Circat About

The name "Circat" is a pun with the phonetic of the word ‚circuit’ [ˈsərkət] – an homage to the opportunity of electric sound generation … and cats.

 

We, Erich and Steffi, are working as a collective combining our interest and knowledge of digital and performing art. Circat is the roof, under which we summarize the different projects we are working on: music and dance theatre, sound installations, electronic music, festivals, VR stuff, generated art … what all this connects is the focus on digital ways of working and creative coding. We are keen to research on building digital bridges between different disciplines like sound and visual art, theatre and gaming. 

 

Erich started with Circat in 2005. In the beginning it used to be a studio for scoring, but the working area turned out to become more and more intermedial and performative. Since 2016 we are working on independent and commissioned projects.
